Hereā€™s a few pictures from our recent SITS show.
We had a blast!!!

About SITS-Kids.

Scandinavian International Theatre School (SITS) is an English speaking theatre school offering training in the performing arts to children between the ages of 6 and 16.Ā All classes take place on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pmĀ during term-time and are in English.

Students work together in three different age groups with no more than 15 students in each class. This activity is open to anyone from any school who wishes to apply, however, as SITS is working in association with Stockholm International School, priority will go to students who attend this school if places are limited.

School Productions.

SITS has been running for many years and each end of term produces a new show for family and friends.Ā A theme is chosen at the start of each term and the show built around that theme.Ā SITS is unique in that every child gets equal opportunity to sing, dance and act.Ā We either write our own, or adapt all theatre material to suit the children we have at the time.
Ā
Some of our inspiration has come from shows such as:Ā Ā

Fame, Cats, Annie, Willy Wonka, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Chicago, Oliver, Hair, Hairspray, Footloose, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Wiz and the plays of Oscar Wilde and Roald Dahl.

We also keep track of the top 100 Billboard Chart so you will often hear a foot tapping pop song in our shows!

It's all about having fun, learning new skills and working as a team.

The Course.

The course consists of Spring term and Autumn term running concurrently with the school year. Each session lasts for three hours between 10 am and 1pm onĀ SaturdaysĀ during which time students attend classes in singing, dance and drama. Spring term runs from mid-January to May. Autumn term runs from late August to December.
All students willĀ be required to wear comfortable clothing for movement and suitable shoes for dance (please see shop for details).Ā Long hair must be tied back and no jewellery is allowed during class.Ā  Please provide a drink and a snack for your child.

Aims.

SITS aims to provide performing arts training in English to those students who are living in Sweden on a temporary or permanent basis. We believe that in a structured environment, through music, dance and drama, our children and young adults develop self confidence, communication and social skills, co-ordination and creativity in an atmosphere where they can have fun, working as a team. Skills which will help prepare them for their future.

Performances.

All students participate in a presentation at the end of each term, based on their course work throughout the year. This may consist of individual group demonstrations or a whole school production. Friends and family are actively encouraged to attend these twice yearly events. On occasion, the school is asked to take part in other concerts and events which is something that we take pride in and encourage our students to participate in.

Stockholm School

SITS Stockholm School run a 14 week term at a cost of 5,200 SEK. This includes 3 hours tuition every Saturday morning in singing, dancing and acting. When a family has more than one child at the school, the first child will be charged the full fee. Any children thereafter will receive a 25% discount.

A two week, non refundable cash deposit of 600 SEK is payable on the first week of term for new students. This is to give your child the opportunity to try out the school for two weeks without parents having to commit financially to the entire course. If your child then wishes to continue, the balance should be paid either in cash to the Principal or to Bankgiro 5839-8306 by the 3rd week of term.

Gothenburg School

It is with the deepest regret that after 12 wonderful years, SITS Gothenburg will close its doors with immediate effect. I would like to acknowledge and thank Kathy, Iona and Faye for their wonderful support during the early years and without whom it would never have been possible and to all the amazing teachers who have graced us with their talent and love of the arts throughout the years. To the hundreds of children who passed through our doors, I hope your future life adventures have been full of confidence and joy and we at SITS thank you for sharing these years with us.
